Job summary

Thales Group is seeking a Principal Certification Engineer to lead FAA certification strategy and execution for complex IFEC and aircraft comms programs. You will ensure structural compliance and regulatory alignment across STC and Type Certificate projects, interfacing with FAA, ODA, and airframe manufacturers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive aircraft structures engineering and FAA certification experience.
• Experience leading certification strategy and execution for complex STC or Type Certificate programs.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead certification strategy for structural compliance across multiple programs per FAA, ODA, STC and airframe standards.
• Act as technical authority for structural certification with FAA, ODA, airframe manufacturers, and partners.
• Oversee substantiation, design data, installation drawings, materials, and analysis activities (statis, dynamics, damage tolerance, loads, FEA, CFD).
• Influence design decisions by integrating certification needs early in development and mitigating risks.
• Lead certification and test efforts including planning, test strategies, execution, and compliance validation.
• Establish and maintain certification processes, standards, audits, continued airworthiness, and mentoring of engineers.
