Collins Aerospace seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead DO-178 software certification activities onsite for flight-display programs. You will coordinate certification plans, liaise with Certification Finders and external customers, and guide FAA/EASA compliance efforts.

The role requires cross-functional coordination across software, systems, hardware, safety, and program management, with emphasis on risk assessment and bold, informed decision making.

Qualifications

• Typically requires STEM degree with extensive experience in certification.
• Experience with DO-178 certification processes and SOI audits.
• Strong leadership, communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Be the primary interface with external customers and Certification Finders for software certification.
• Coordinate certification activities, including project management, estimation, tracking and reporting.
• Provide technical coordination across multiple teams and domains; assess risks and decisions.
• Mentor team members and develop training materials for knowledge transfer.
