Job summary

Estes Express Lines, a leading LTL freight carrier, is seeking a Central Dispatch Supervisor in Richmond, VA. You will assign and manage the daily workload of over-the-road drivers, focusing on service performance, cost controls, load quality, equipment balance and utilization. The role requires dispatch experience, strong communication, and the ability to work non-traditional hours in a 7x24 operation. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; college degree preferred
• Supervisory experience in trucking/transportation a plus
• 1+ year of transportation dispatch experience required
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety rules
• Strong communication and analytical skills
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
• Ability to work non-traditional schedules including nights/weekends
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and assigns drivers and vehicles to convey freight
• Plans dispatches to meet cost and service goals
• Analyzes and directs driver assignments and load consolidation
• Dispatches Line Haul drivers to move freight timely within service standards
• Coaches drivers and makes performance-based decisions
• Ensures compliance with DOT regulations and company policies
• Interacts with multiple stakeholders across the organization
• Works in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
• Willing to perform additional duties as required
