Job summary

CDM Smith's Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group is seeking a candidate to inspect and monitor construction activities at project sites across multiple locations. This on-site field position provides the opportunity to gain real-world experience and make a direct impact on project success.

The inspector must perform complex inspections in road, bridge, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance/traffic categories, with knowledge of materials, geometry, and contract

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on duties and project demands.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to ensure materials and processes meet plans, specifications, and special provisions.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspection.
• Work under supervision appropriate to the assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
