Job summary

CDM Smith’s Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection team seeks an Inspector to perform complex and routine construction inspections at project sites nationwide, including roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance and traffic. The role requires reading drawings, applying contract provisions, and communicating results to supervisors.

Travel up to 20-40% is expected; a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and certifications such as ACI or NICET may be

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Travel may be required domestically and/or internationally.

Responsibilities

• Performing both complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate materials and processes for conformance with plans, specs, and provisions.
• Uses higher grade equipment and performs complex calculations for inspection.
• Work under limited or direct supervision depending on assignment knowledge.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
