Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Inspector for our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group. The role involves inspecting and monitoring construction activities at project sites across multiple locations, with a focus on roadways, bridges, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance/traffic.

You will read and interpret plans, enforce specifications, and document findings while coordinating with project teams.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity (ACI/NICET) in earthwork, asphalt and concrete if required by client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience can substitute for a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performing complex and routine inspections of construction to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Uses advanced equipment and performs complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision as needed based on demonstrated knowledge.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspections.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
