Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site inspector to support our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection team. You will inspect roadways, bridges, drainage, erosion control and maintenance activities at project sites across multiple locations, ensuring conformance with plans and specs.

The role demands strong reading of construction plans, detailed documentation, and the ability to communicate findings to supervisors. Travel up to 40% may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to ensure materials and construction conform to plans and specs.
• Use higher grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision appropriate to demonstrated knowledge for the assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
