Job summary

The Medication Assistant (MA) serves as a caregiver who provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per plan of care.

Administers prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and documents outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, and daily living activities.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Must have CNA certification or state-specific CMA/Medication Aide credentials where applicable.
• State-specific CMA/CNA requirements exist (e.g., CMA in certain states; see posting for details).

Responsibilities

• Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under supervision of a charge nurse.
• Delivers age-appropriate care per the plan of care and assists with daily living activities.
• Assists with meals, dining, hydration, and supplements as appropriate.
• Administers prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and documents outcomes.
• Communicates changes in condition and care concerns to the charge nurse.
• Collects non-invasive specimens and records vital signs; provides housekeeping and laundry support.
