Job summary

The Medication Assistant (MA) serves as caregiver who provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per plan of care.

Administers prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and within their scope of practice as defined by state regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• 12 hours continuing education annually as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under supervision.
• Assist with bathing, grooming, mobility, meals, and recording vital signs.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated and document outcomes.
• Communicate changes to the charge nurse and assist with wellness activities.
