Good Samaritan invites applications for a Medication Assistant (MA) who serves as a caregiver, delivering resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under a charge nurse's supervision. The MA helps with basic health care needs, vital signs, and personal care while supporting dining experiences and social well‑being.

Administered medications are performed within the scope of practice defined by state regulations, and documentation is maintained for care outcomes.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 18 preferred.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• A minimum of 12 hours continuing education annually based on state requirements and maintenance of department-specific certifications.
• State CMA/CNA certification requirements may apply (Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota).
• Active CNA registration in state of practice, or ability to obtain within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse.
• Document outcomes related to resident care and communicate changes to the charge nurse.
• Assist with transferring, range of motion, and mobility as needed.
• Assist with meals/dining and support housekeeping and laundry to maintain clean living areas.
• Support wellness and recreational programs and participate in committees as needed.
