Job summary

NinjaOne is seeking a Senior C++ Software Engineer to advance the Network Management Service across Windows and Linux. You will design and implement device discovery, data collection, and monitoring workflows, operating near customer networks and handling diverse protocols.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
7+ years of C++ development experience, proficient in C++14 or newer.
Strong understanding of modern C++ and production-quality systems software.
Proficiency with Qt and CMake.
Experience developing for Windows, Linux/POSIX and cross-platform environments.
Strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and asynchronous programming.
Experience with network programming and network protocols; SNMP knowledge is a plus.
Familiarity with protocols such as SNMP, SSH, ICMP, WMI or similar technologies.
Experience debugging across application, OS, and network layers.
Ability to develop test cases and test plans for thorough coverage.
Comfort working on complex systems with OS/network/device variability.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define requirements.
Experience with highly critical systems.

Responsibilities

Cross-Platform Development: Build and maintain software for Windows and Linux using C++ and Qt, with native implementations where appropriate.
Network Discovery and Monitoring: Design features for discovering devices, collecting data, and monitoring health.
Network Protocols: Work with SNMP, SSH, ICMP, WMI and other protocols; handle vendor/device differences.
Systems Programming: Develop high-performance, concurrent C++ software near the network.
Performance and Reliability: Create asynchronous workflows and ensure reliability at scale.
Testing Ownership: Design and implement unit, integration, and system tests.
Technical Collaboration: Align requirements with backend, UI, QA and product teams across OS and network environments.
Troubleshooting: Debug complex issues across multiple components of the NMS platform.
