Job summary

GovCIO is seeking an experienced C# / ASP.NET Application Engineer to maintain and enhance a SQL Server backend with SSIS packages and Active Directory integration. This fully remote role within the United States focuses on ensuring secure, scalable, and high‑performing government IT solutions.

The candidate will troubleshoot across the full stack, optimize data models, and collaborate with DBAs, system admins, and security teams, while adhering to .NET standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Science or Engineering with 12+ years of experience.
• Strong C# and ASP.NET experience.
• Solid T-SQL skills and SQL Server administration knowledge.
• Hands-on SSIS development and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Active Directory and Windows Authentication; read/write to AD.
• SQL Server Agent job management.
• Familiarity with IIS administration.
• Git-based development workflow.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve ASP.NET (MVC/Web API/Web Forms) applications, ensuring smooth integration between front-end and back-end.
• Support SQL Server databases: queries, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Update and deploy SSIS packages.
• Manage SQL Server Agent jobs and troubleshoot failures.
• Design, query, and manage relational databases, including writing efficient T-SQL and stored procedures.
• Configure and support AD authentication and IIS settings.
• Troubleshoot and debug across the full stack from UI to database/server layers.
• Collaborate with DBAs, system admins, and security teams to design features and troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain documentation and follow secure coding practices.
• Write clean, maintainable code following .NET standards and OO design.
• Optimize data models and architectures for performance and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold code quality and .NET best practices.
• Stay current with .NET updates and Microsoft ecosystem improvements.
