Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield in Falls Church, VA is seeking a Lead Operating Engineer to oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in our commercial building.

You will supervise maintenance staff, perform preventive maintenance, coordinate with contractors, manage inventories, and respond to emergencies while ensuring compliance with safety and building standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related trade experience operating mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting.
• Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician license and EPA Section 608 Universal certification.
• High school diploma or GED; apprentice program/trade school preferred.
• Willingness to travel between properties and respond to priority/emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for the building.
• Supervise maintenance staff and coordinate activities and projects.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks and inspections (filters, belts, lamps, bearings).
• Coordinate with outside contractors and technicians; manage inventories.
• Respond to emergencies and report to management with monthly building operations updates.
