Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Building Mechanical Engineer in Austin, TX to join our infrastructure team. You will design HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and central plant systems for water and wastewater projects, while coordinating with architects, vendors, and clients.

The role requires a PE license or ability to obtain within a year, 5+ years of experience, and strong data analysis. We offer a hybrid work model and robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• PE license or ability to obtain within one year is required.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive building mechanical engineering and project delivery experience.
• Strong data analysis, problem solving, and multitasking in fast-paced environments.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Design complete HVAC systems including central plants and equipment.
• Design plumbing and drainage systems for potable and non-potable use.
• Develop fire protection systems and odor control assets.
• Perform HVAC load and lifecycle cost calculations; energy analyses with RESCHECK/COMCHECK.
• Prepare design drawings, reports, and specifications with vendor coordination.
• Lead meetings, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with architects and clients.
• Support field staff during construction and respond to RFIs and submittals.
