Jacobs in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Building Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of mechanical systems for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including plumbing, HVAC, odor control and fire protection. You will develop design drawings and specifications for client submission and coordinate with multiple disciplines.

You will mentor junior staff, perform field evaluations, and support construction with submittals and RFIs in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years’ experience in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection design for design-build projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Strong data analysis, problem-solving and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of plumbing, HVAC, odor control and fire protection systems.
• Prepare design drawings and specifications for client submission.
• Coordinate with architects, technicians, and engineers across disciplines.
• Conduct field evaluations and develop as-built drawings.
• Mentor designers/drafters and less experienced engineers.
• Support field staff during construction and respond to submittals and RFI.
