Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance seeks a Senior Builders’ Risk Underwriter to manage a portfolio of contractors, developers, and owners while underwriting complex construction projects. You will evaluate plans, budgets, schedules, and loss history to structure coverage and pricing with substantial authority.

You will mentor junior underwriters, collaborate with UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, and other teams to improve products and processes, and strengthen partnerships with agents in the marketplace.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business or equivalent required.
• 3+ years underwriting experience; CPCU preferred.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages brokers, agents, contractors, developers, owners, and other construction clients to develop Builders’ Risk business.
• Evaluates project plans, budgets, schedules, valuations, contracts, and loss history.
• Determines coverage terms, limits, deductibles, exclusions, and pricing for various construction projects.
• Maintains relationships with agents/brokers and represents Liberty Mutual in the marketplace.
• Monitors project exposures including delays, scope changes, and loss drivers.
• Collaborates with UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, Risk Engineering, Product, Legal, and other directors.
• Mentors junior underwriters and communicates trends and opportunities for growth.
