Job summary

Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Co. is seeking a Senior Builders' Risk Underwriter to manage a high-value portfolio and drive analytical, data-driven decisions for new and renewal business in Builders' Risk.

You will evaluate project plans, exposures, and risk controls; determine coverage terms and pricing; and mentor junior underwriters while collaborating with UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, Risk Engineering, and product teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
• Minimum 2.5 years of progressive underwriting experience (3+ years typical).
• CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites Builders' Risk policies within established underwriting authority with limited guidance from leadership.
• Evaluates project plans, budgets, construction schedules, valuations, contracts, loss history, site conditions, catastrophe exposures, and risk-control measures.
• Determines coverage terms, limits, deductibles, exclusions, and pricing for commercial, residential, infrastructure, renovation, and specialty construction projects.
• Maintains strong relationships with agents and brokers, strengthens existing partnerships, develops new opportunities, and represents Liberty Mutual effectively in the marketplace.
• Monitors evolving project exposures, including construction delays, changes in scope or values, occupancy transitions, fire, theft, water damage, windstorm, flood, earthquake, collapse, and other Builders' Risk loss drivers.
