Job summary

HDR is seeking a Major Bridge Technical Director to lead the technical direction of HDR’s major bridges program within the Transportation Business Group. This role combines deep structural expertise with strategic leadership to guide design, production, staffing, and QA/QC across complex long-span projects.

Required are a PE license, 10+ years of bridge design and proven leadership across multi-disciplinary teams, with experience in cable-stayed or long-span bridges and alternative delivery

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and PE license (PE or P.Eng) with reciprocity ability.
• 10+ years of bridge design experience.
• Experience leading major bridge projects (long-span) and design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, directing, and monitoring large, multi-disciplinary bridge projects.
• Provide technical oversight, cross-team coordination, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Deliver technical leadership for bridge design and production efforts with design teams.
• Perform complex structural planning, analysis and design for long-span bridges.
• Mentor junior engineers and oversee QA/QC procedures.
