Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer - Bridges in Troy, New York. The role focuses on analysis, design, site work, and reviews for bridge infrastructure across public and private sectors.

You will lead engineering tasks, develop plans and cost estimates, and mentor junior staff while coordinating with owners, sub-consultants, and clients to ensure quality and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5–7 years of post-education structural engineering experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer in New York State or eligible via reciprocity.
• Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, design/build, and project issues.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
• Knowledge of sustainability concepts and reducing hazardous substances/GHG.
• Familiarity with codes, regulations, and record-keeping requirements.
• Ability to perform calculations, read plans, and compare to regulations.
• Project management experience on small to mid-size projects.
• Ability to inspect and supervise construction and design aspects.
• Strong written and verbal communication for diverse audiences.
• Self-leadership, multitasking, and attention to detail.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and interns.
• Proficiency with software tools listed in qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Determine data collection and analysis methods from site surveys, blueprints, GIS, and other sources for project development, design, and construction.
• Perform structural engineering work and inspect site conditions for conformance with rules and permits.
• Develop construction plans, specs, and cost estimates; update layout plans and coordinate with owners and clients.
• Incorporate advanced modeling and design requirements to ensure safe, future-ready solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute multiple projects and guide installations.
• Verify site characteristics and provide guidance on structural soundness against loads.
• Prepare data visualizations, charts, tables, and technical reports for findings.
• Maintain QA/QC standards and precise measurements and analyses.
• Mentor entry-level engineers and interns and provide technical leadership.
