Job summary

Accura Engineering in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Sr. Construction Inspector to oversee roadway and bridge construction on assigned projects, with responsibilities including field visits, QA reporting, and mentoring junior staff.

The role requires thorough knowledge of highway construction, the ability to read complex plans, and a valid US driver’s license for site travel. Night/weekend work may be required, with competitive salary based on experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with 3+ years of roadway and bridge inspection experience, or equivalent.
• Experience inspecting transportation construction including heavy civil, bridge and roadway projects.
• Strong knowledge of specs, standards, materials, methods and equipment in highway and bridge work.
• Ability to read and interpret complex construction plans and reports.
• Valid US Driver’s License and ability to pass MVR review.

Responsibilities

• Proactively identify and document deficiencies in roadway and bridge construction, ensuring compliance with contract specs.
• Conduct daily site visits to monitor work-in-progress and verify materials and workmanship.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members; review their work for QA.
• Provide specialized inspections and written reports for bridge construction and OV activities.
• Supervise junior technicians performing OV audits and inspections; act as SME on Developer activities.
• Monitor Developer on-site activities; inspect materials entering the work per plans and provisions.
• Oversee sampling and testing per CQAP; ensure timely data entry into the Materials database.
• Ensure material certification requirements are met for Final Acceptance.
