Job summary

Accura Engineering in Nashville, TN seeks a Sr. Construction Inspector to oversee roadway and bridge construction in Atlanta, GA, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications. The role involves daily site visits, mentorship of junior staff, and delivering detailed inspection reports.

The ideal candidate has extensive field experience, strong math/calculation skills, and the ability to work independently, including night/weekend shifts as needed. A valid US driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent with progressive roadway/bridge inspection experience.
• Associate degree in civil tech with 8+ years of relevant inspection experience.
• High school diploma with 15 years of progressive roadway/bridge inspection experience.
• Experience in transportation construction inspection including heavy civil projects.
• Thorough knowledge of specs, standards, materials, methods and equipment in highway/bridge construction.
• Proficient math skills (algebra, geometry, trigonometry).
• Experience reading and interpreting complex construction plans/reports (BFI, pile driving, drilled shafts).
• Ability to work independently and make field decisions; strong safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Identify deficiencies in roadway/bridge construction and document them with corrective actions per specs.
• Perform daily site visits to monitor progress and ensure material/workmanship meet specs.
• Mentor and review junior team members’ work for QA and best practices.
• Provide specialized inspections and written reports for bridge/OV activities.
• Supervise junior technicians during OV audits/inspections.
• Act as SME on Developer activities, including remediation and repair reviews.
• Monitor on-site construction and inspect materials per plans/specs.
• Oversee sampling/testing per CQAP and QA procedures.
• Maintain contract documentation and admin duties.
