Job summary

The Borough Maintenance Planner at NYC Public Schools oversees the daily maintenance operations for an assigned regional office, supervising contract vendors and trade staff to ensure school facilities function smoothly.

Responsibilities include prioritizing work orders, coordinating with principals and administrators, and driving policy and efficiency improvements across the division.

Qualifications

• Nine years of full-time field experience in building maintenance or related areas, with at least 18 months in a supervisory role.
• Education toward a Baccalaureate degree in engineering or architecture may substitute for up to three years of experience.
• Experience in management and communication roles within large organizations.

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative and technical supervision over repair and maintenance operations, including work by contractors.
• Plans, directs and coordinates activities of skilled trade staff and regional office personnel.
• Reviews work requests from custodians and determines whether to use internal staff or outside contractors.
• Approves material and equipment requests and makes recommendations to the Director, School Facilities.
• Prepares budget proposals and oversees fund allocation for the area office.
• Ensures compliance with NYCPS and DSF policies.
