Job summary

New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) Office of School Facilities seeks a Deputy Director School Facilities to oversee custodial and facility maintenance operations, assign work, and coordinate with regional centers. The Deputy Director will supervise custodian engineers and building managers and liaise with principals, educators, contractors, and external agencies.

In emergencies, this role provides front-line management of school buildings, field offices, and administrative sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least four years of full-time, progressively responsible experience in building maintenance, including supervision of cleaning, operating, heating and maintaining building systems; 18 months in a managerial/executive capacity.
• High school diploma or educational equivalent with six years of related experience, including 18 months in a managerial/executive capacity.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the above; all candidates must have 4-year high school diploma and 18 months managerial experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides overall direction and leadership in the operation and maintenance of public-school buildings in a designated area.
• Manages PPE distribution and enhanced cleaning protocols as part of operational measures.
• Oversees custodial and facilities maintenance operations and coordinates with regional centers.
• Supervises custodian engineers and building managers.
• Interfaces with OSF administration, DSL, and technical staff to ensure high-quality facilities.
