Job summary

DAVIS is seeking a Senior Virtual Construction Engineer to lead BIM/VDC workflows on complex construction projects, directing model coordination and deliverable development while mentoring junior staff. This role reports to higher staff and leads multiple coordination efforts.

Responsibilities include managing Virtual Construction project setup, federated models, and BIM Execution Plan alignment, ensuring QA/QC and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, or related field.
• At least 3 years of VDC experience.
• Proficiency in BIM software (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD).
• Experience managing federated models, clash detection, and coordination resolution.
• Understanding of point cloud processing and integration into VDC.
• Able to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
• Strong communication with project teams and leadership.
• Experience leading coordination on active construction projects.
• Knowledge of construction documents, building systems, phasing, and trade coordination workflows.
• Ability to interpret and validate shop drawings and submittals.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced BIM/VDC deliverables on complex projects, including clash detection and coordination reports.
• Manage Virtual Construction project setup, model administration, and federated models.
• Apply BIM Execution Plan requirements to define coordination needs and deliverables.
• Produce and oversee BIM/VDC deliverables such as trade drawings, overlay studies, and point cloud processing.
• Enforce QA/QC procedures for model accuracy and coordination completeness.
• Collaborate with Field Engineering and Reality Capture teams to integrate project data.
• Develop constructable solutions for coordination challenges.
• Align VC deliverables with project schedules and deadlines.
• Provide mentorship to junior staff and promote efficient workflows.
• Support cost management and adoption of new technologies in VC projects.
