James G. Davis Construction is seeking a Senior Virtual Construction Engineer to lead BIM/VDC workflows on complex projects, directing model coordination and deliverable development while mentoring junior staff.

The role oversees federated models, clash detection, and coordination issue resolution, aligning with project controls and schedules to deliver constructible solutions. You will partner with field teams and leadership to drive quality and innovation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, or related field, or equivalent years of experience.
Minimum of three years VDC experience.
Advanced proficiency across BIM software (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD).
Ability to independently manage federated models, clash detection and resolution.
Deep understanding of point cloud processing and its integration into VDC.
Strong communications with project teams and leadership.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proven experience leading coordination on active construction projects.
Understanding of construction documents, building systems, phasing, and trade coordination.
Ability to interpret and validate shop drawings and submittals.

Responsibilities

Leads advanced trade coordination on complex new construction and renovation projects, incl. clash detection and coordination reports.
Manages Virtual Construction project setup, model administration and federated models per project controls.
Applies BIM Execution Plan to define coordination needs and deliverables.
Produces BIM/VDC deliverables: trade drawings, overlay studies, point cloud processing, site logistics plans.
Establishes QA/QC procedures to ensure model accuracy and standards alignment.
Collaborates with Field Engineering and Reality Capture for project requirements and data integration.
Evaluates coordination challenges and develops constructible solutions.
Aligns VC deliverables with schedule milestones and deadlines.
Provides technical mentorship to junior staff and promotes efficient workflows.
Supports cost management and advocates for technology adoption.
