Job description

Lewis Brisbois is seeking a Senior Billing Specialist with legal experience. The Senior Billing Specialist will have excellent communication skills and a high level of professional service to clients, management, attorneys, and other staff to effectively, efficiently, and successfully administer monthly billing. The role also involves researching, responding to, and resolving inquiries or discrepancies regarding billing-related issues. The Senior Billing Specialist must demonstrate a high level of commitment to quality customer service, professionalism, and interpersonal skills, as the position requires interaction with management, attorneys, staff, and clients in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Expertise in all facets of electronic billing, especially for insurance defense matters with complex billing arrangements, is essential.

Responsibilities and Job Requirements:

• Six (6) or more years of hands-on billing experience in a law firm environment, including at least three (3) years of electronic billing experience.
• Experience with Aderant, Elite, LawTime (or equivalent) legal accounting software; familiarity with eBillingHub.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college-level courses in Accounting or an Accounting Degree are preferred.
• Hands-on familiarity with multiple e-billing vendor systems and outside counsel guidelines.
• Strong technology and office skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to create, edit, and present complex data, analyses, and ad hoc reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an aptitude for working with numbers.
• Ability to interact effectively and credibly with attorneys, secretaries, and clients.
• Detail-oriented with a customer service approach and problem-solving attitude.
• Ability to anticipate work needs, organize workflow, and follow through with minimal supervision, working independently and on own initiative.
• Capacity to multi-task, use time efficiently, and perform professionally under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Ability to prioritize and adapt to varied situations, including possibly working weekends or evenings as needed.
