Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a BESS Engineer III for a fully remote role. You will lead design and engineering of battery energy storage systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and safety.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with partners, and support procurement, testing, and commissioning across projects. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in electrical engineering focused on BESS, renewables, or power systems, with strong knowledge of codes and standards and proficiency in PSS/E, PSCAD,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 3+ years electrical engineering experience with focus on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expertise in design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems including Li-ion batteries, inverters, BMS, and grid interconnection equipment.
• Knowledge of BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software.
• Proficiency in power system analysis (PSS/E, PSCAD) and simulation tools.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IBC, ASCE, NESC, NFPA, and utility standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes and provide guidance to project teams.
• Lead design and engineering of battery energy storage systems ensuring contract, utility, and AHJ compliance.
• Review feasibility studies and system sizing analyses to recommend optimal BESS configurations.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with EPC partners to ensure timely delivery.
• Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
