Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior BESS Engineer to lead design, development, and optimization of battery energy storage systems for utility-scale projects. The role is fully remote with nationwide responsibilities and opportunities to mentor engineers and help drive innovative storage solutions.

You will oversee cross-functional engineering scopes, coordinate with partners, and ensure safety, performance, and regulatory compliance on projects across the U.S.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expert knowledge of BESS components including lithium-ion batteries, inverters, and BMS.
• Strong understanding of BESS control strategies and optimization software.
• Proficiency in power system analysis and simulation tools; knowledge of NEC/IEEE/NFPA codes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes and provide technical direction.
• Lead and manage design/engineering of BESS for performance and safety.
• Review feasibility studies, site assessments, and system sizing analyses.
• Coordinate with fire protection engineers and AHJs; ensure compliance.
• Develop specifications and supervise procurement activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and support business development activities.
