Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior Engineer, Construction – BESS to provide technical oversight across EPC execution, commissioning and warranty for battery energy storage projects. This remote role focuses on high‑risk BESS scopes, coordination with EORs, vendors, AHJs, and project teams, and guiding field execution with engineering judgment.

You will review drawings, support action item closure, and help improve standards and templates while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• 3–5+ years of progressive electrical engineering, BESS engineering, EPC, utility-scale renewable energy, power systems, or energy storage experience with advanced technical responsibility.
• Strong understanding of BESS design, integration, commissioning interfaces, battery systems, inverters, BMS, EMS, controls, grid interconnection equipment, and project execution requirements.
• Experience coordinating EORs, vendors, consultants, AHJs, owners, and internal project teams to resolve complex engineering issues and drive deliverables to completion.
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, vendor documentation, commissioning documentation, fire protection-related documentation, and related BESS technical deliverables.
• Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IBC, ASCE, NFPA 855, UL 9540, UL 9540A, and related project-specific standards.
• Strong analytical skills and communication skills for leading technical discussions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; pref with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, document control systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a BESS SME for engineering scopes including layout, integration, controls, and commissioning requirements.
• Coordinate Engineers of Record, vendors, consultants, AHJs, owners, and stakeholders for timely deliverables.
• Review drawings, specs, reports, and vendor docs for contract and site alignment.
• Track engineering action items, review comments, and design revisions through closure.
• Support resolution of conflicts, field questions, and coordination issues involving BESS scope.
• Review BESS system architecture and control narratives and vendor packages.
• Support fire protection design packages and hazard mitigation documentation.
• Manage commissioning procedures, performance requirements, and project criteria.
• Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements to workflows and templates.
• Provide guidance during construction, commissioning, and warranty activities.
• Mentor staff and contribute to standards development.
