Job summary

Arnold & Porter is seeking a Senior Manager of Business Development Training to design and lead a firmwide BD training program. This role partners with the Chief BD & Marketing Officer and other leaders to shape a multi-tier curriculum for associates and partners, driving client origination and revenue growth.

You will deliver sessions, manage a calendar of training across offices (virtual and in-person), and integrate BD training with broader attorney development initiatives, while aligning

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in business development, professional services marketing, or attorney professional development.
• Experience coaching attorneys or supporting individual business development plans.
• Familiarity with CRM systems, experience management tools (e.g., Foundation), and AI-enabled productivity tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot).
• Demonstrated expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles.
• Experience designing or leading training programs in a professional services environment.
• Strong understanding of business development within a law firm or professional services environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain a comprehensive, multi-level business development curriculum with tailored learning tracks for associates and partners.
• Develop structured learning paths from foundational skills to advanced capabilities like client origination and revenue growth.
• Partner with BD Directors to create practice-specific content aligned with priorities.
• Build and maintain a repository of best practices and case studies.
• Ensure content reflects the firm’s brand and market positioning.
• Oversee annual BD training calendar and delivery across offices and formats.
