Job summary

Arnold & Porter seeks a Senior Manager, Business Development Training to design and execute a firmwide BD training program. Lead a multi-tier curriculum and partner with senior leadership to align with client strategy and growth. Role may be based in NY or DC offices.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in BD or professional development, strong instructional design, and a track record of leading training in professional services. A discretionary bonus is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree a plus.
• 7+ years in business development or attorney professional development.
• Experience coaching attorneys and supporting BD plans.
• Familiarity with CRM systems and AI productivity tools.
• Expertise in instructional design and adult learning.
• Experience designing or leading training in professional services.
• Strong BD knowledge in law firms or professional services.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate complex concepts into actionable frameworks.
• Proven project management; ability to handle multiple programs.
• Willingness to travel to firm offices.
• Leadership capability to drive firmwide initiatives.
• Detail-oriented and high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Curriculum Design & Development: design and maintain a comprehensive, multi-level business development curriculum with tailored learning tracks for associates and partners.
• Program Management & Delivery: own annual BD training calendar and coordinate sessions across offices, virtual and in-person.
• Measurement & Reporting: define success metrics and report program effectiveness to leadership.
• Stakeholder Engagement: build relationships with BD/PD leadership and firm stakeholders; advise on training strategy.
