Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior Engineer, Construction - Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to provide senior technical oversight during EPC execution, commissioning, and warranty. This fully remote role requires deep BESS expertise, strong coordination across EORs, vendors, and stakeholders, and a focus on advancing engineering standards and project delivery.

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years of BESS/energy storage experience, a PE preferred, and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field required.
• 3-5+ years of progressive electrical engineering, BESS engineering, EPC, utility-scale renewable energy, power systems, or energy storage experience with demonstrated advanced technical responsibility.
• Strong understanding of BESS design, integration, commissioning interfaces, battery systems, inverters, BMS, EMS, controls, grid interconnection equipment, and project execution requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate EORs, vendors, consultants, AHJs, owners, and internal project teams to resolve complex engineering issues and drive deliverables to completion.
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, vendor documentation, commissioning documentation, fire protection-related documentation, and related BESS technical deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Serve as BESS SME for engineering scopes including layout, controls, and commissioning.
• Coordinate EORs, vendors, AHJs, owners, and stakeholders to deliver BESS work.
• Review BESS drawings, specs, vendor docs, and commissioning docs for alignment.
• Track action items, comments, and design revisions through closure.
• Support resolution of conflicts and field questions on BESS scope.
• Review BESS system architecture, layouts, single-line diagrams, control narratives, vendor packages.
• Coordinate fire protection design packages with consultants and stakeholders.
• Manage technical comments with EORs, vendors, owners, and commissioning teams.
• Evaluate equipment, vendor docs, and commissioning procedures.
• Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements.
• Provide senior engineering support during construction, testing, commissioning, energization.
• Assist with RFIs, clarifications, field issues, and turnover.
• Participate in technical discussions with teams and owners.
• Support warranty investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Contribute to BESS standards, reviews, templates, trackers.
• Serve as escalation resource for field teams.
• Provide guidance and lessons learned to improve efficiency.
• Support leadership with high-risk scope reviews and trend analysis.
• Mentor staff through guidance and document review.
