Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts in Boston seeks an experienced Banquet Manager to supervise daily banquet operations, align staff with event objectives, and ensure high guest satisfaction. You will coordinate with kitchen, AV, and other departments to deliver flawless service for large events.

The role requires leadership, strong English communication, and ability to manage budgets and inventories. Occasional after-hours and peak-period support is expected in a luxury, full-service hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Some college or advanced food and beverage operations training and two years experience in banquets or food and beverage operations, including one year supervisory experience.
• Must speak fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day activities of the banquet department, communicate objectives, and schedule/assign work.
• Recommend and/or initiate salary, disciplinary, or other staffing-related actions in accordance with company rules and policies.
• Ensure all staff is properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their job functions.
• Ensure rooms are set-up and service delivery meets guest expectations and banquet event orders; conduct pre-function meetings.
• Coordinate with Kitchen staff on groups’ menus and delivery times; arrange AV and other needs.
• Greet guests on arrival, respond to requests/complaints promptly, and follow service recovery guidelines.
• Review guest checks with clients after functions and obtain signatures.
• Maintain security of inventory and equipment, replenish supplies, and minimize waste.
• Control labor and expenses and contribute to annual department budget.
• Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained and cleaned; coordinate with Engineering for repairs.
• Promote teamwork with Sales, Catering, Housekeeping, Accounting, Maintenance, and Guest Services.
• Interact with guests, vendors, regulators, and other contacts as needed.
• May handle boxes and exhibit materials; may serve as Manager on Duty.
• Perform other duties as assigned including assisting banquet staff during peak periods.
