Job summary

Hidden Jobs is seeking a senior engineering leader to head a backend platform team responsible for the core distributed systems powering a benefits technology platform. You will blend people management, technical strategy, and operational ownership while ensuring safe integration of AI-assisted development in production.

You’ll collaborate with product, security, and customer-facing teams to scale infrastructure for hundreds of enterprise customers.

Qualifications

5+ years directly managing software engineers.
10+ years backend software development in distributed systems.
Experience leading a platform/infrastructure/backend team.
Owning platform reliability: SLAs/SLOs, incident management, observability.
Track record hiring, coaching, and performance management.

Responsibilities

Own strategy, roadmap, and quarterly OKRs for backend platform services.
Lead architecture decisions for distributed services, APIs, and shared infrastructure.
Manage and coach a team of backend engineers, fostering an inclusive culture.
Set engineering quality standards, including AI-assisted code reviews before production.
Own operational model for platform reliability: uptime, on-call, postmortems.
Define platform health metrics and absorb ad hoc requests without delivery disruption.
