Job summary

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking a Backend Application Engineer to design, build, and operate the core backend platforms and shared services that power our high-traffic applications. This role focuses on building and scaling platform capabilities for our internal teams.

You will optimize request routing, data fan-out, caching, asynchronous jobs, and durable event processing to meet strict latency targets in a 100% remote, US-wide environment.

Qualifications

• Six or more years of professional backend or platform engineering experience.
• Strong, hands-on expertise designing distributed systems with rigorous consistency, availability, latency, and failure-mode behavior.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one major backend language such as Java, Go, Scala, Rust, or modern C++.
• Deep understanding of high-throughput messaging, streaming, and event-driven architectures.
• Proven experience leading multi-quarter platform initiatives across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design internal platform services and shared infrastructure used by hundreds of engineers daily.
• Architect high-throughput, latency-sensitive backend platforms with predictable tail latency.
• Build durable, replayable event-processing pipelines and asynchronous job execution platforms.
• Design and operate caching, rate-limiting, and request-shaping layers for safe scaling.
• Develop platform abstractions, SDKs, and paved-road libraries for reuse.
• Establish observability, SLOs, and capacity planning for platform services.
• Drive multi-region, fault-tolerant designs with availability and graceful degradation.
• Lead incident response and blameless post-mortems; push durable improvements.
• Define platform-wide API design, schema evolution, and backward-compatibility standards.
• Mentor engineers and lead architectural discussions across teams.
