Job summary

Bright Vision Technologies seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale distributed backend services. You will focus on scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainable engineering practices across core platforms.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in backend and strong proficiency in Java, Go, or Scala, with cloud and data-store experience, plus mentorship abilities. This is a 100% remote, full-time W2 role aligned with an in-house SOW roadmap.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Six or more years of professional backend engineering experience, with significant time on distributed systems.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Go, Scala, or similar.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts, including consensus, replication, and CAP trade-offs.
• Hands-on experience with high-throughput message systems such as Kafka.
• Experience operating systems at scale, including capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with both relational and NoSQL data stores.
• Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and mentorship skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement large-scale distributed backend systems using Java, Go, Scala, or similar high-performance languages.
• Architect data partitioning, replication, and consistency strategies for workloads.
• Build resilient APIs and event-driven services with observability and idempotency.
• Optimize systems for latency, throughput, and cost with profiling and load testing.
• Lead architecture reviews and trade-off analyses.
• Implement robust failure-handling patterns including retries and circuit breakers.
• Design and operate scalable data stores (SQL/NoSQL).
• Build observability with logs, metrics, and tracing.
• Drive incident response and post-incident learning.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and uphold code quality and operational rigor.
• Partner with SRE and platform teams to improve reliability.
• Contribute to long-term architecture and multi-year roadmaps.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
