Qualifications

• 11+ years of professional backend or platform engineering experience.
• Experience building and operating internal platforms used by multiple teams.
• Design distributed systems with strong focus on consistency, availability, latency and failure modes.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one backend language (Java/Go/Scala/Rust/C++).
• Deep knowledge of high-throughput messaging and event-driven architectures (Kafka/Pulsar/NATS).
• Strong data storage knowledge across relational, key‑value, document, and search workloads.
• Experience leading multi-quarter platform initiatives and stakeholder management.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to document designs clearly.
• Experience mentoring engineers and shaping engineering culture.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate foundational platforms and shared services used by engineering teams.
• Develop backend platform capabilities for high throughput with low latency.
• Focus on request routing, traffic management, data fan-out, caching, asynchronous jobs and durable event processing.
• Collaborate across teams, document trade-offs, and drive architectural decisions.
• Lead multi-quarter platform initiatives and mentor engineers.
