Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Backend Platform & API Strategy professional to own the backend, APIs, and data platform capabilities for our SaaS product suite. You will partner with engineering, product, and market intelligence to design scalable, interoperable systems and drive the roadmap for internal and partner integrations.

You will lead API governance, define standards, and enable cross‑functional teams with clear specs and acceptance criteria while monitoring KPIs like uptime and latency.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in product management.
• 4+ years backend APIs or platform products.
• Proven SaaS platform delivery experience at scale (B2B/enterprise).
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design and modern integration patterns.
• Hands-on experience with API management platforms (Apigee, API Gateway, Kong, MuleSoft).
• Strong ROI modeling, market sizing, and competitive differentiation.
• Experience leading API or platform product strategy, not just execution.

Responsibilities

• Own the roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform capabilities.
• Define API standards, versioning, and developer DX.
• Lead strategy for third‑party integrations and marketplace ecosystem.
• Collaborate with architects to evaluate interoperability standards (HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, TEFCA).
• Translate requirements into clear specs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Track platform KPIs: API adoption, uptime, latency, integration success.
