Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a technically fluent Backend Capability Product Specialist to own the backend platform, API ecosystem, and third‑party integration layer of our SaaS product suite. You will operate at the intersection of engineering, business strategy, and market intelligence to drive scalable, interoperable systems powering internal capabilities and partner integrations.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of product management experience.
• 4+ years focused on backend systems, APIs, or platform products.
• Proven track record delivering SaaS platform features at scale - ideally in a B2B or enterprise context.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, webhooks, async messaging, and modern integration patterns.
• Hands-on experience with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Kong, MuleSoft).
• Strong ability to build investment cases grounded in ROI modeling, market sizing, and competitive differentiation.
• Demonstrated experience leading API or platform product strategy - not just execution.
• Comfortable reading technical documentation, reviewing API specs (OpenAPI/Swagger), and participating in architectural discussions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary product owner embedded with backend engineering squads - running sprint planning, backlog grooming, and stakeholder reviews.
• Translate complex technical requirements into clear, actionable product specs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Act as the internal API product evangelist, enabling internal teams to leverage platform capabilities effectively.
• Define and track platform KPIs: API adoption, uptime, latency, integration success rates, and developer satisfaction.
