Job summary

CVS Health seeks a Backend Capability Product Specialist to own backend platforms, APIs, and data integrations for its SaaS products. You’ll operate at the intersection of engineering, business strategy, and market intelligence to deliver scalable, interoperable systems powering internal and partner ecosystems.

You will lead API design, DX, and governance while coordinating with architects and cross‑functional teams to drive ROI and competitive differentiation in a complex healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of product management experience.
• 4+ years focused on backend systems, APIs, or platform products.
• Proven track record delivering SaaS platform features at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own the product roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform capabilities.
• Define API design standards, versioning strategies, and developer experience (DX) principles.
• Drive the vision for a scalable, event-driven microservices architecture in collaboration with engineering leads.
• Establish and govern API governance frameworks including authentication, rate limiting, and SLA commitments.
• Lead strategy and execution for third‑party integrations, partner APIs, and marketplace ecosystem development.
• Identify and prioritize integration opportunities with EHR/EMR platforms and payer systems.
• Collaborate with technical architects to evaluate interoperability standards: HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, TEFCA.
• Manage the integration roadmap from vendor evaluation through production go‑live.”
