Coinbase, Inc. is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Backend for the Coinbase One team. You will own backend services powering the membership lifecycle, including sign-up, billing, entitlement delivery, and promotions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience shipping and operating production services at scale.
• Experience building subscription, payments, or commerce systems (recurring billing, entitlements, promotions).
• Proficiency in Go or similar backend language with ability to adapt to a Go-centric codebase.
• Design and maintain APIs and distributed systems across product surfaces (web and mobile).
• Track record of taking ambiguous projects from scoping to production with cross-functional partners.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and operation of backend services powering the Coinbase One membership lifecycle, including sign-up flows and recurring payment processing.
• Build scalable platform capabilities for targeted benefit delivery and personalized membership experiences across the Coinbase app.
• Partner with frontend, product, design, and payments teams to scope, ship, and iterate on membership features from concept to production.
• Drive backend architecture decisions to ensure reliability, extensibility, and integration with Coinbase platform services.
• Improve service reliability, observability, and performance across Coinbase One's backend stack.
