Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience shipping and operating production services at scale.
• Experience building subscription, payments, or commerce systems with recurring billing.
• Proficiency in Go or similar backend languages (Java, C++, Rust) with Go adaptation.
• Design and maintain APIs and distributed systems across web and mobile.
• Experience taking ambiguous projects from scoping to production with cross-functional partners.
• Responsible use of AI with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and operation of backend services powering the Coinbase One membership lifecycle, including sign-up flows, subscription management, and recurring payment processing.
• Build scalable platform capabilities for targeted benefit delivery, promotions, and personalized member experiences across Coinbase retail apps.
• Partner with frontend, product, design, and payments teams to scope, ship, and iterate on customer-facing membership features from concept through production.
• Drive backend architecture decisions for the Coinbase One product area, establishing patterns for reliability and integration with platform services.
• Improve service reliability, observability, and performance across Coinbase One's backend stack, proactively identifying and resolving production issues.
