Job summary

VulnCheck is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale the core systems powering our vulnerability intelligence platform. This is a hands-on, high-impact role with end-to-end ownership of critical services and data pipelines.

You will shape architecture, improve performance, and deliver durable solutions while collaborating with Product, Data, and other engineering teams. This remote role requires you be located in MA, MD, or Greater Austin, TX.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go, Java, etc.
• Experience designing distributed systems and microservices.
• APIs, system design, and cloud infra (AWS preferred).
• Experience with data pipelines, ETL, or high-volume processing.
• Proven ability to debug and optimize production systems.
• Ownership mindset to lead projects independently.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Own services end-to-end, including architecture, development, deployment, and operation.
• Lead technical design discussions and influence architecture decisions.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code and promote best practices.
• Debug production issues and implement long-term, scalable solutions.
• Improve performance, reliability, and observability across the platform.
• Partner with Product, Data, and other teams to deliver features.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster engineering culture.
• Participate in incident response and on-call rotations.
