Job summary

VulnCheck is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale core systems that power a vulnerability intelligence platform. You will own critical services end-to-end—from design through production—driving architecture decisions and delivering durable, scalable solutions.

In this 100% remote role, candidates must be located in Massachusetts, Maryland, or Greater Austin, TX. You will mentor engineers, improve performance, and collaborate across Product, Data, and Engineering teams

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems.
• Strong programming skills in one or more languages (Python, Go, Java).
• Experience designing distributed systems and microservices.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Own services end-to-end from architecture to operation.
• Lead design discussions and drive system architecture decisions.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code and engineering best practices.
• Debug production issues and implement durable solutions.
• Improve performance, reliability, and observability of the platform.
• Collaborate with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to deliver features.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering culture.
• Participate in incident response and on-call rotations.
