Job summary

WorkHero is building the AI-powered back office for the skilled trades, starting with HVAC. We’re hiring a senior engineer to own our real-time voice stack end to end—AI agents on live phone calls—and the data platform turning calls into insight: call → transcript → events → warehouse → dashboards.

You’ll own meaningful systems end to end alongside a small, senior team with deep experience in AI, product, and the trades.

Qualifications

• Senior backend experience shipping production systems you own.
• Hands-on with realtime voice/streaming: telephony, WebRTC, STT/TTS.
• Data pipelines, warehousing, and analytics on production data.
• Typed backend language expertise (TypeScript preferred).
• Experience with LLM-powered features and AI architectures.
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform), cloud and CI/CD at scale.
• Interest in leveraging AI coding tools like Claude Code/Cursor.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and propose AI-native solutions to problems.
• Write clean, scalable code and own the voice/data stack end-to-end.
• Optimize performance, latency, and cost of real-time AI systems.
• Respond to incidents and ensure continuous reliability.
• Mentor teammates and collaborate across product and subject matter experts.
• Work with users' needs and design challenges in your work.
• This is a Remote role with 4 hours overlap with ET overlap.
