Job summary

CVS Health Digital seeks an experienced Senior Software Development Engineer to design, develop and implement scalable digital solutions. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust software across the digital platform.

You will own testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and system observability while shaping the technical direction of digital engineering projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience with Back End
• 3+ years of Java fundamentals and advanced concepts (concurrency, JVM internals, performance tuning) as well as Spring Boot and Spring ecosystem
• 3+ years of expertise in GraphQL, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture, including design and implementation of distributed systems
• 3+ years of proven experience in database design, development, and optimization across relational and NoSQL databases
• 2+ years of experience with SDLC, version control (Git), branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines
• 2+ years of experience participating and/or leading code reviews and establishing testing strategies using modern testing frameworks
• 2+ years of experience with cloud-native development and deployment patterns

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of efficient, reliable, and scalable digital solutions
• Write high-quality, production-ready code and implement critical functionalities
• Drive architectural decisions for scalability, performance, security, and maintainability
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing
• Champion best practices including testing, CI/CD, and observability
• Own QA processes for complex features with unit and integration tests
• Collaborate with product, operations, and clinical stakeholders
• Drive agile ceremonies and remove technical blockers for the team
• Create comprehensive technical docs and runbooks
• Identify opportunities for technical debt reduction and optimization
• Stay current with emerging technologies and mentor others
