Verkada is seeking a senior Backend Engineer for the Device Platform team in San Mateo, CA. You will architect and ship core platform services that connect Verkada's cloud to devices, including provisioning, OTA firmware, and licensing.

You will collaborate across teams to improve robustness, latency, and uptime at scale for millions of devices, mentoring others and shaping technical direction while communicating clearly with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend development experience.
• Experience building scalable, low-latency services with strong reliability.
• Proven ability to lead cross-team projects and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Architect, ship, and mentor on major platform features end-to-end.
• Lead operational improvements to increase robustness and reduce pager noise.
• Design reviews, code reviews, and direct mentorship with peers.
• Listen to other teams and drive the platform roadmap toward long-term bets.
• Collaborate with Verkada teams to ensure platform scale across products.
