Job summary

Verkada is hiring a Senior Security Engineer to advance the security program across device platforms. You will build and scale backend tooling for automated security testing and fortify the firmware supply chain.

You will mentor peers and grow expertise in offensive/defensive security within a rapidly expanding hardware+software environment. The role emphasizes strong systems design, IoT fleet experience, and hands-on development with Go/Python, AWS, and modern backend tech in a security-focused

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• 8+ years developing Go/Python microservices with AWS and on-call experience.
• Strong knowledge of scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems with databases, queues, and blob storage.
• Experience with Temporal, Kubernetes, Docker, Redis, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, IAM, and S3.
• Strong systems-architecture capabilities.
• Experience with IoT device fleets is preferred.
• Security experience or hacker mindset is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain security infrastructure and internal tooling for device security testing.
• Design, build, and scale backend systems and tools to secure firmware and devices.
• Develop automation to administer the device security program.
• Mentor other engineers and continuously deepen security knowledge.
