Job summary

Oak Street Health, part of CVS Health, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to own complex backend workstreams, guide technical decisions, and mentor engineers. You will design robust prompts, ingest pipelines with Databricks, and ensure high-quality, reliable systems in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities include architecture ownership, end-to-end domain management, and ensuring test coverage and observability. Prior healthcare or health-tech exposure is valued; strong leadership is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building distributed backend systems in production.
• Proficiency building system prompts and utilizing AI frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB or comparable document stores.
• Track record of leading technical work across a team - not just executing it.
• Experience with cloud-native deployment (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Bachelor's degree preferred/specialized training/relevant professional qualification.

Responsibilities

• Design robust system prompts using LLM frameworks.
• Partner with product teams and business stakeholders to understand and automate workflows.
• Design and implement robust file-ingestion pipelines using Databricks.
• Own a domain or service area end-to-end, including its data model and integration contracts.
• Lead code reviews, set technical standards, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
• Hold the team accountable for test coverage, observability, and the production health of the services you own.
