Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Backend Software Engineer for Customer Experience Intelligence (CXI) to architect and deliver an AI-native vertical workflow platform. You will create a scalable, multi-tenant agent platform, orchestrating AI agents, humans, and enterprise tools into end-to-end workflows.

You will lead design and implementation across domains like IT, Security, and Legal. The role emphasizes backend excellence, state-machine workflows, observability, and cross-functional collaboration

Qualifications

• BS or higher degree in Computer Science or related engineering field.
• Extensive backend development experience building high-throughput production systems.
• Experience deploying enterprise-grade backend infrastructure, microservices, and robust APIs.
• Deep familiarity with distributed systems, data platforms, and handling large-scale traffic.
• Hands-on experience with ML-assisted backend systems, LLM orchestration, state machines, or agentic automation.

Responsibilities

• Architect the Agentic Ecosystem and backend infrastructure for the enterprise platform.
• Scale the vertical, multi-tenant agent platform across multiple domains and workflows.
• Drive reliable backend development with strict quality, safety, and throughput standards.
• Design state machines and agentic workflows from human-in-the-loop to automated execution.
• Implement observability, tracing, logging, and safe rollback for AI-driven decisions.
• Serve as technical liaison across CXI, Product, Platform Engineering, and stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and SME teams to raise engineering standards.
